He is an Agronomist and holds a PhD from the Department of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He has done postdoctoral research at the Laboratory of Chemical Ecology and Natural Products at NCSR DEMOKRITOS and at the Department of Entomology at the University of Minnesota (USA). He is engaged in research with the biological treatment of insects and the development of methods of integrated insect management. In particular, he deals with the behavior and chemical ecology of insects.
At the same time, a significant part of the research activities concerns quarantine pests. Participates in national and international research projects as a coordinator or as a member of a research team and has a significant number of scientific publications (68, h-index 17).
Since July 2018 he is a member of the Committee of Phytosanitary Experts of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
